This is a NEW program offered to the citizens of Linton by the Linton Police Department. The "Friends of the Police" is designed to help speed up the process of contacting friends, relatives, and care givers of the elderly and or handicapped. In some past events the LPD has been called to citizens residence and did not know who to contact. In some cases having the information of a relative or care giver would have sped up the process tremendously. Therefore the program is designed for just that. This is a volunteer type program no one has to be involved. However for those who do we will take down the information of your care giver/relative and doctor. You will also be given a card with your name on it stating you are a Friend of the Linton Police Department. If for any reason the Linton Police Department or another emergency service would run across this card or checked or data base for your name. We would have on file the appropriate information to speed up your help and or medical services. In the medical field minutes count and I hope this is another way we can be pro-active in helping the citizens of Linton and saving lives.

So far we have already seen success with this program. There has been several instances so far where information contained at the Linton Police Department has aided in the assistance of some of the elderly we have had on file.
