Traffic stop results in woman being arrested

By Halea Franklin, staff writer

On Monday, the Linton Police Department made a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of a woman wanted on a warrant for theft.

Linton Patrolman Paul Clark was driving on 1st St. NW and State Road 54 when he spotted Deborah D. Dicus, 41, of Linton. Clark contacted Linton Patrolman Blaine Gillan and advised him that Dicus was wanted on a warrant.

According to a police report, Clark initiated a traffic stop and Gillan arrived at the scene two to three minutes later. The Linton Police dispatch confirmed that the arrest warrant was through the Greene County Sheriff's Department.

Dicus was placed under arrest and transported to the Greene County Jail without incident.

Dicus is being held on charges of theft -- a class D felony -- for stealing gel, body spray, curl booster, nipples and infant drops from the Linton Wal-Mart Supercenter. A warrant was issued for Dicus on Jan. 18.

Dicus is being held on $4,000 bond.

A class D felony is punishable with up to 1 1/2 years in jail and a maximum $10,000 fine.
