Joseph White, 20, Linton, was arrested on a number of charges after the Linton Police Department received a tip that he was involved in the theft of items from vehicles.

“We had been investigating this and had information in The Daily World and on Channel 10 in Terre Haute,” said LPD Chief Troy Jerrell, “and we received information from a Greene County Crime Stoppers tip. While investigating this, Ron Sparks of the Lyons Police Department contacted the Linton Police Department with further information he'd received in Lyons.

“As a result of the investigation, search warrants were obtained on September 1st for a residence occupied by Joe White at 210 NW I Street. That search and additional information led to a search of another residence at 2000 Fifth Street Northwest. We caught him in the middle of a move.”

Several items, including legend drugs and a large quantity of stolen property, were seized during the search, according to Jerrell.

“We were able to retrieve several items stolen from several vehicles,” he said.

White is charged with three counts of unlawful sale of a legend drug, one count of attempted receiving of stolen property, two counts of possession of a legend drug, and one count of possession of stolen property. All are D felonies, and each is punishable by six months to three years incarceration and a maximum $10,000 fine.

Jerrell said the case is still under investigation, and more arrests are expected.

“It's a good example of everybody working together again,” he said. “You have the Linton Police Department, Lyons Police Department and Crime Stoppers all working together to solve cases. I think that's wonderful.”

Det. Sgt. Duane Collenbaugh was the investigating officer. Patrol Officers Josh Goodman and Paul Clark, and Reserve Officers Heath Murray and Brian Sparks assisted.
