Welcome to some of the Specialized Officers of the Linton Police Department

We currently have two Crime Scene Technicians (Collenbaugh and Clark). Pictured to the left is a photo of the Detectives and Technicians preparing to enter a residence during a Death Investigation to look for potential evidence.

The suits worn by the Officers are necessary not only to protect the Officer, but the Scene as well. This helps to keep any outside contaminates out of the Scene.

Duane Collenbaugh is the lead CSI on the Department. It is his job to find any and all evidence at a Scene. He has completed the exact same course that the technicians for the Indiana State Police attend. Clark has also completed a Crime Technician course through the Indiana Police Academy. Troy Jerrell is the lead investigator for the Department. It is his job to work with Officer Collenbaugh and Clark to see which pieces of evidence being collected can assist on the crime. Basically putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Troy Jerrell has also completed numerous homicide classes varying in many different methods of investigating them.

As you may have read on other pages the Linton Police Department also now has a Polygraph Examiner. We sent Lt. Troy Jerrell to the Backster school of Lie Detection to be certified in the use of the equipment. Backster is one of the leading schools in the field of polygraph. It also is the same school the Indiana State Police send their officers to.  The equipment and software used by him is also newer than what they use.

Here are several of the Officers on the Linton Police Department that make up the Emergency Response Team (ERT). These Officers are trained to make high-risk entrances into buildings and residences. They are used mainly in high-risk warrant services and drug labs. With drug Labs and Guns becoming more and more numerous, they carry the Colt M-16 A1 Military issue with laser sites as their main weapon.
